Our clients include technnical writers, private investigators, authors / journalists, and researchers. These clients work in varied fields such as insurance, science, education, and business. We have also transcribed personal recordings for individuals documenting family history or important doctor consultations (so family members do not need to take notes while listening).

HBS' transcription clients may choose between two types of transcription service — verbatim transcription or editorial transcription.
Verbatim Transcription
Verbatim Transcription is the transcription of recorded material, a computerized spellcheck, and proofreading and correction to match the audio version of the material to the transcript more or less on a word-for-word basis. Minor editing, such as removal of repeated words and phrases, may be done per the client's instructions, but the transcript is, in essence, verbatim.
Editorial Transcription
Editorial Transcription is done in place of verbatim transcription. With editorial transcription, proofreading is done to ensure proper grammar and punctuation, appropriate tone, and clarity. Most often this service is used for correspondence or other forms of printed or electronically-transmitted communication.

Secure FTP Site
We offer a secure, password-protected directory on our FTP site for our clients' use in uploading recordings. Each HBS client is provided with a password-protected directory for his or her use.
Time-Stamped Transcripts
We also offer time-stamped transcripts of DVD recordings (where the timestamp is inserted into the transcript to coincide with the timestamp from the DVD). This type of transcript is useful for video editing.
HBS accepts the following:
- digital recordings (MP3, wmf, etc.),
- DVDs,
- micro cassettes, and
- standard cassettes.
